I was born in Wyoming in the fall of 1980. My Mother left Wyoming and my Father 3 months after I was born (he was abusive.) We moved to Virginia- in the Shenandoah Valley area.
I was raised as an only child, though I do have a half brother that is 10 years older than me. I was an inquisitive, spirited child. My mother took me many places! Our rides through the Shenandoah Valley, our outings to WV’s Lost River State Park, and one of her boyfriend’s interest in hiking/mushroom hunting made me absolutely fall in love with nature.
As a child I was quite precocious. I was spoiled and the youngest of the extended family- and so got a lot of attention. I loved to be outside and was quite a tom girl. I would catch crayfish in the streams, climb the trees, ride my bike for hours, or spend ALL day at the pool.
As I got older it was my love of nature that influenced my decision to follow paganism. My Spirituality has undergone many changes through the years, but remains mostly pagan in fundamentals.
My family ties are very strong and I have a great pride and respect for the members of my family. My family is very matriarchal. The first born daughters of our family are usually the family head. I am a first born daughter of at least 5 generations. Most family gatherings took place at my mother’s home when I was growing up.
My mother is the MOST amazing cook. During the winter months she would fix cookies, candies, sweet cakes, etc to fill gift boxes with. In the summer months she made strawberry jam and even taffy! Even though she worked a lot, my Mother often took me places. We’d go for a picnic in the mountains, to a local event, to the movies, to visit family (even as far as Wyoming), or even just for a scenic drive down a road we liked or a random one we were curious about. I have a great respect for my mother and take great pride in the women of my family. They are strong, stubborn women!
I have been married once (now separated and in the process of divorce,) and have one beautiful child. His name is Quillan, and at the time I write this, he is 7 years of age. He has blonde hair, blue eyes, and a very sweet disposition.
My favorites-
- Color is green -the color of life and money (how could you go wrong with that?!)
- Food is Chicken Marsala -it just tastes decadent
- Non-alcoholic Drink is Sweet Tea, Cheerwine, and smoothies
- Alcoholic Drinks are Mudslide, Pina Colada, Fuzzy Navel, and Cap’n & Coke (I honestly only drink about 3 times a year- My Birthday, Christmas, & New Years)
- Movies -Way to many to list by name, I’m a huge movie buff. I like action, dry humor comedy, musicals, thriller (not cheap horror, more suspense or scifi/fantasy themed), anime (esp. Hayao Miyazaki), and kids (like pixar, disney, etc.)
- Books- Again, I read a lot so its hard to list them all, but I do have a few favorites (Wuthering Heights, Ender’s Game series by Orson Scott Card, Five Senses series by Andre Norton, and many more). I tend to read fantasy, dabble in science fiction, and adore classics.
- Music- Rock, Classical, Techno, New Age, Celtic, Trance, etc
My Hobbies Include-
- Reading
- Internet
- Hiking
- Spending time w/my son, Quillan
- Sketching
- Going to the Movie Theater, or watching movies at home
- Journalling

Skycladsmile,
I found your blog by following you on twitter.
I like your spiritual approach to life. You seem to grasp the abraham/hicks underlying principles clearly. You also seem to think things through very carefully.
You mention a quote from Richard Bach. Have you read Illusions?….Of course you have. Illusions was the first spiritually oriented book I read followed by Way of the Peaceful Warrior and Shaman of Tibet. All excellent books.
I wonder if you would be interested in reviewing my book. It is about mind-over-matter, or more appropriately Will-over-matter. It discusses the steps I went through to understand how mind-over-matter works (way of the peaceful warrior type story).
The approach is a bit different from hicks or the “Secret” because it is completely focused on the internal journey with minimal focus on the external portion of bringing things in.
My hope is to help the current trend where people are focusing inward, not dispersing so much of their energy pursuing imaginary status outward.
This first book is about mind-over-matter because I’ve found people who are totally lost into the external world trying to make ends meet have a hard time turning inward. Hopefully this book will allow them to get their external lives settled enough to turn inward. I will be writing a second and then third book focusing on the inward journey once my first one Searching For Mind-Over-Matter: Extraordinary Experiences of an Average Joe takes off (wish me luck!).
I would be happy to send you a book and if you like it, please post a review on Amazon.com and/or twitter and/or your blog and anywhere else you see fit. You can see more info about the book on my website http://www.joyousintent.com.
