I’ve begun a new personal project and I’m calling it the “Letter of Love.”
I started thinking about how we go through our lives and don’t really tell the people that we care about how much they mean to us and what kind of an impact that they have on our lives. One of the most common things you hear after the death of a loved one is ” I wish I had…” Why do we wait until we no longer have someone in our lives before we say how much we loved them or how much they meant to us?! Imagine the impact those words would have on their lives while they are living!
So here’s the formula…
- Sit down and make a list of important people in your life.
Think about:- why they are important to you.
- why you love them.
- memories of that person.
- the impact they have/had on your life.
- what you hope for them.
- anything else you would like to say to them.
- Lastly, write the letter to the person. I recommend a handwritten letter, but if you want to type it up first so you can edit it easier, that’s fine too. Writing it by hand is a personal touch and will strengthen the impact of the letter.
- Mail the letter via postal service. It show the person that you are serious about your feelings and that this isn’t just some random thing you jotted down.
